While traveling, we managed a wee bit of birding on New Year's Day. Belvoir
Road pond was quiet as was the Harrison Road pond. Blantyre Road (628)
yielded three bald eagles (2- adult and 1-immature) and a spectacular
leucistic red-tailed hawk (best seen from 695/McRaes Road) in association
with another red-tailed hawk.
Silver Lake had a pair of hooded mergansers, but the quarry/reservoir had a
nice variety- mallards, Canada's, ring-necked, hooded mergansers, gadwall,
a female black duck, a female bufflehead and a handful of redhead!
