Around 4 p.m. today (Sunday) Joyce and I were checking the birds at College
Creek on the Colonial Parkway. Looking down James River we saw at least three
large gleaming white birds with black wing tips. Then we saw them start to
feed by plunging at top speed into the water and realized they were Northern
Gannets. They continued to move away from us down river.
