It was gray and chilly but four birders came out to see what was at
Huntley Meadows. Canada Geese, Mallards, and Green-winged Teal were
everywhere in the marsh. The only other waterfowl we could find were a
lone Pintail and a couple of Black Ducks. We got nice looks at
woodpeckers in the trees, sparrows in the bushes, and a Rusty Blackbird
hopping around next to the boardwalk. Probably the best highlight,
though, was a long look at a Red-breasted Nuthatch pecking away on a
low branch overhanging the trail near the parking lot and the visitor's
center.
