This morning 25 April I found a few goodies in western Fairfax County. Here
are the highlights:
At Waples Mill Park on Oakton:
Wood Duck
Kingbird
Blue-Headed Vireo
R-C Kinglet
Baltimore Oriole (singing male)
At Walker Nature Center in Reston:
Pine Siskin (a dozen or so at a feeder)
Hermit Thrush
Consistent with other locations earlier this week, I found a nice mix of winter
residents and summer residents. The only "migrant only" species I've seen has
been B-H Vireos in 3 different locations. Although, some of the Hermit Thrush
and R-C Kinglets are probably migrants vs. NoVa winter residents. Checklists
for both locations are at eBird.
