This morning we leisurely birded at Occoquan Bay NWR. The wind kept many of the
birds down, but in sheltered areas the birding was pretty good. Most noticeable
were Gray Catbird, Eastern Towhee, Brown Thrasher. On the water, a couple large
rafts of ducks were seen with a few American Coots, American Wigeons, Northern
Shovelers being ID-ed. Several Horned Grebes were seen as well. Ducks did well
with an appearance of three Buffleheads and a single Common Goldeneye. All were
females. Along Deephole point road not far from Charlie Rd, mixed in with the
many Ruby-crowned Kinglet we found a big surprise White-eyed Vireo. Several
photos were taken and the white eye was clearly visible. The complete list of
