I visitied Occoquan Bay NWR in the rain this morning. I did not stay too long,
but did come across some nice birds. I heard a bobwhite and rusty blackbird
from the entrance road. I saw a male turkey displaying for 3 females. A king
rail was calling from the marsh, which also held a great egret and green-winged
teal. The pond by the parking lot had 3 greater yellowlegs, 7 lesser
yellowlegs and a Wilson's snipe. A Bonaparte's gull in breeding plumage flew
over the parking lot.
