[Va-bird] Occoquan NWR (3/30/2012) Brewer's Sparrow

I observed the BREWER'S SPARROW this morning (9:30)
at the intersection of Deep Hole Road and Charlie Road. Got several very
good looks. Surprised that the bird continues to hang around...making, of course, a
highly reasonable assumption that this is same bird that has attracted our
attention since mid-January.

Other birds of interest: a pair of CASPIAN TERNS cruising the Belmont Bay
shoreline; lots of BONAPARTE'S GULLS in the middle of the bay; and, displaying tom TURKEYS at both ends of the
refuge.

I would also note that a pair of OSPREYS appears to be nesting on a duck
blind just off shore from the point at which Deep Hole Road terminates. Those
interested in great photo opps might want to check this out. Good views of the birds at almost eye
level.
