Spent the morning looking for FOS Am. Tree Sparrows, but had no luck. On the
other hand, yesterday's front blew
in lots of Northern Cardinals. From stationary positions on Bayview and Charlie
Roads, respectively,
I tallied more than 40 birds...and I saw many more as I wandered about. Also
riding yesterday's winds were Fox Sparrows. Saw six or seven and heard at least
three more.
Best bird of the morning was a feisty little Sedge Wren near the parking
lot—second time this fall I’ve run into Sedge Wrens at
Occoquan.
At Pohick Bay Regional Park, there were no early morning ducks at all—just a
few coots and lots of gulls. But at the far side of the bay from the kayak
launch
area, I counted 37 Blue Herons sunning themselves on the shoreline.
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!
