I had a 10 sparrow morning at Occoquan NWR today. Nothing unusual, but all the
expected species for this time of year: song, swamp, savannah, fox (5), tree
(2), field, white-throated, white-crowned (1), dark-eyed junco, and eastern
towhee. Other notables were a meadowlark at the end of Charlie Rd., two
American pipits in the mowed field to the west of the Wildlife Drive before the
1st exit gate, male and female purple finches along Fox Rd., and several rusty
blackbirds.
