An Osprey was back on it's nest on the Dan River in Danville Saturday morning!
Otherwise, no new activity on the Southside Bird Club morning walk.
Did have a female Purple Finch at the feeder this AM and a Fox Sparrow in the
yard a few days ago.
I've had several people report Greater Scaup in the Danville area from last
weekend. I had seen a flock of about 100 mostly Lesser Scaup on the Dan River
last Saturday (a week ago) afternoon and since then people reported them on
their ponds even! After looking at pictures, they swore that they were Greater
Scaup! I am still enough of a novice on ducks that I'd be scared to make that
call this far inland!
