Hello Birders,
Beth Oristian and I visited several spots along the bay shore of the
Northern Neck today. At Windmill Point in Lancaster County the fish weirs
were being pillaged by a large flock of Cormorants along with gulls, terns
and pelicans. A Merlin also buzzed us. At Hughlett Point Natural Area
Preserve in Northumberland County a pair of very vocal Oystercatchers was
present and we found a lone Seaside Sparrow on the backside of the beach.
Finally, at Dameron Marsh Natural Area Preserve a lone Tundra Swan was
viewed from the overlook along with a nice flock of feeding shorebirds.
I confirmed today what I already suspected.....April is my favorite month
in Virginia and the western shores of the Chesapeake is one of my favorite
regions in Virginia.
Good birds,
Ellison
