I spent a few hours this morning at the Eastern Shore stopping at Sunset
Inn, Ramp Rd and the old artillery bunker. On the marsh overlook trail at
the bunker, an Ovenbird was foraging near the overlook platform. It was
unconcerned about my presence, even giving me a decent shot at a photo.
Hermit Thrush were all along the trail. Hundreds of Tree Swallows were
continually swirling into the air and then descending into the nearby shrubs.
Needless to say, Yellow-rumped Warblers and White-throated Sparrows were too
numerous to count. Good numbers of Dark-eyed Juncos were also present.
Other than gulls and Brown Pelicans on Island 1, there was a single Purple
Sandpiper and 4 Ruddy Ducks.
