Hello fellow birders,
"Phoebe"' (an Allen's hummingbird in Orange Country, CA) 2nd egg was a dud, so
it was removed. A local hummer rehabber happened to have an orphaned baby come
in, so she decided she would take it and put it in Phoebe's nest... and it was
love at first sight! All caught on video!......

This is something I want to do more of this season; i.e., find possible
surrogates with active nests for both the hatchling and nestling songbirds and
hummingbirds I get in. I hope to use this wonderful LISTSERV this coming baby
season to help me find possible nests in which to place orphaned birds. The
birding community and rehabbers are working hand-in-hand all over the country
in successfully finding surrogates for orphaned birds. I certainly want to try
this in the Tidewater area.
So, look for posts from me this coming baby bird season.
As always, thanks for you help!
