These photos have been shot over the past week. They are mostly from a
point and shoot camera through a glass window. Some are cropped to enlarge
the image of the bird.
Monday Tom Jones joined me for tanager watch at my house and we listed the
following birds while we waited for the tanager to drop in. Tom brought
his wonderful scope so that I was able to see and identify some waterfowl
that were new to me since some stay out in the middle of the lake, out of
range of my weaker scope.
At 8:30 there were *46 Tundra Swans* that eventually moved down the lake
due to the territorial mute swans. I got to identify my first* 4* *American
Wigeons and 2 Gadwalls*. I was happy to see *3 Red-necked Grebes* returned
for the morning. A group of around *17 Lesser Scaups* were resting,
and the *Bald
Eagle* flew in for awhile too.

Lake of the Woods that remain year round
Tundra Swan (Cygnus columbianus) 46 were whistling. Resident mute
swans pursued them and they either left or moved farther down the lake.
