Rich Rieger and I birded the back side of Huntley Meadows Park this morning
beginning around 7:30 a.m. Highlights included our FOS Pine Warbler near the
maintenance buildings, where it was reported this past weekend. It was in good
voice and then perched where we got good looks. Also in the same area were
Chipping Sparrows and a Phoebe. Just past the Pond Trail loop there was a
Hermit Thrush showing nicely, both on the trip in and out. Also near the Pond
Trail was a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker making noise and then showing itself
briefly. Rich heard a Turkey gobble in that area, also.
While we only tallied 35 species on the walk, it was a great day to be outdoors.
