Am I the only one that has trouble (read impossibility) telling between a
singing Pine Warbler and a singing Chipping Sparrow? (I'm not talking about
the "slow" Pine song, but the fast one. The one that sounds like a Chippie!)
Last weekend I was out in an area with pine trees and Pine Warblers and heard
and saw them singing. A quarter mile down the trail there were no pine trees
and I heard more "Pine Warblers" singing. When I found the birds, it turns out
that they were Chipping Sparrows. To me, the song sounded exactly like the
song of the Pine Warbler - same speed, same pitch, same duration, etc.
Is there some way to tell a fast Pine from a Chippie?
Thanks,
Bart
