Hello Everyone,
I visited several spots in Prince William (mostly) and Fairfax Counties today
with the hopes of finding a few early migrants. I think the winds, which
strengthened as the morning progressed, kept a lot of activity down and I
didn't really find any interesting migrants. Waterfowl also disappointed, but
it is nice to see Ospreys and Phoebes again. Below is a list of highlights by
location in order of occurrence, and complete list of the day's 83 species at
bottom:

Great Horned Owl hooting at gate at 6 AM

35 Canvasbacks in water near power plant
Peregrine Falcon (juv) strafing ducks over creek
175 American Pipits in grassy hillside along Possum Pt Rd - conservative est.
2 Rusty Blackbirds amid mixed Icterid flock

Great Horned Owl - ufortunately flushed from roosting tree along trail
