Today at my feeders I had my FOS Purple Finch (male) and FOS Chipping
Sparrow. The P. Finch arrived with 2 House Finches and stayed only a
minute. It was nice having them side by side for comparison. The Chippy
stayed all day even after a Junco chased him around.
For Christmas our grandsons gave us a home-made bluebird house painted
bright red! We weren't sure how that would go over but this afternoon, no
sooner had my husband put it on a pole by the woods than a pair of
Chickadees was checking it out. They gave it a long and through
examination. I hope they decide to stay. They must not object to red at
all (assuming they see that color). The house did make a colorful scene
with the background of blooming forsythia and the neighbor kids' huge yellow
ball that had rolled down behind it.
