Did my weekly survey while monitoring nest boxes at Huntley Meadows today. A
Black-and-white Warbler was singing near the maintenance building and a
singing American Redstart greeted me near the platform at the end of the
Hike-Bike Trail. A Palm Warbler and several Yellow-rumped Warblers added to
the chorus along the way. Three adult male Purple Finches were seen and
heard in the woodcock meadow. A few Rusty Blackbirds remain. (Also
submitted under Rusty Blackbird Blitz). Common Yellowthroats and Blue-gray
Gnatcatchers were everywhere! It looks like Tree Swallows are dominating
the nest boxes.
