" Gone To The Birds " Purple Martin Festival will be held on July 31st
from 6-9 PM at the Farmers Market on 17th Street, Richmond, VA. The
purpose of the event is to celebrate the return of the Purple Martins to
the Bradford Pear Trees on 17th Street which they have been using as a
pre migratory roost site for many years in the past and to educate the
public about these very special birds. Purple Martins have been called "
The Most Wanted Bird In America " because of their bond to human
beings. There will be experts at the festival to give guests
information about the birds. There will be marvelous door prizes which
will be raffled off at 7:45 PM. There is a web site where you can get
