We found a small group of 3 RB NUTHATCHES today (family?) in extreme Western
Rockingham Co. They were at 3300ft, along FR87 (Dry Run Rd), where it meets
FR85. They were quite cooperative & chatty, and stayed in the same spot for 15
minutes until we left. The whole area is extremely DRY, like the rest of us.
Also higher up along FR85, we found:
BLUE-HEADED VIREO (many)
BC CHICKADEES (with juveniles)
VEERY (good numbers still singing)
Chestnut-sided Warbler (a few)
Black-throated Green Warbler (6-8)
Hooded Warbler (3)
JUNCO (Lots - plus some juveniles @ 3450ft)
RB Grosbeak (just a few)
Hoped-for Blackburnians were a no-show.
