A Red-necked Grebe was present this cold and windy morning (12/22/07) ,swimming
in the Bay off of the first island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. There
were lots of gulls flying around, including 300 or more Bonaparte's and over a
thousand Ring-billed. One of the Ring-billed Gulls had bright orange wing
tags. It looks like it may have been one of a group of gulls which were tagged
in Chicago in May of this year. I didn't find the Harlequin Ducks that had
been seen earlier, but they were probably hunkered down somewhere out of sight.
