The first three pictures are of a raptor I saw circling over Ben Brenman
Park on Thursday afternoon.

I know what I think it is, but I'll wait for expert advice. The pictures
are not of good quality because they were taken with a hand-held, manual
focus 500mm lens.
Also, the next five images are of Hooded Mergansers (m&f) taken just
before I saw the raptor. The first one of them is interesting in that you
can see the nictitating membrane partly closed on the bird's eye (right
side).
