Today, I listened to a Raven making a lot of noise (calling) along Wood Creek
at the original entrance to Sunnyside Farm (Kendal), which is just outside of
the Lexington City limits. It was perched in a sycamore tree calling for 10+
minutes. I was able to get a few photographs before it was flushed by someone
walking along the paths. The Raven moved towards the golf course and continued
to call. Ravens are one of my favorite birds and I love to hear their
vocalizations. We often see/hear Ravens flying over Lexington and I suspect a
pair nests at a quarry just outside of town. Ravens are fairly common along
the Blue Ridge Parkway and in the western part of the county near Goshen Pass.
