All,
Despite or because of the predicted bad weather, It turned out to be a rather
productive day of birding. 2 Red Crossbills, a single male and female were seen
around 1:30 PM at the crossroads at the top of Briery Branch Road in Rockingham
County. On my way back down the mountain a Ruffed Grouse was seen and
photographed along the roadside. Earlier Wild Turkey were heard and a Louisiana
Waterthrush was seen in the woody area behind the Cattail marsh at Hone Quarry.
Additionally Rusty Blackbirds were seen once again at my house this morning and
again this evening along Scholars Road near the railroad track.
