Had 6 Red-breasted Mergansers (2M,4F) feeding in the cove at Lake of the
Woods and of course while I am scoping them, the Western Tanager drops in
for a bite. It would have been a perfect photo of him in the brilliant sun
(he is so beautiful!) if I had a camera in my hand instead of looking at
the mergansers! He challenged the bluebirds and cleared the feeder before
proceeding. He also did this earlier this week when I was watching 5
red-necked grebes. I will persist and get a photo of him in the sun.
