It's Thanksgiving time and I am thankful today for the arrival of my first
Red-breasted Nuthatch of the year. Didn't see him but heard lots of honking
in the pines by the house.
Pine Siskins arrived here in mid October sometimes in groups of 50 - 100
individuals. But they all vanished after the first week in November. The
Purple Finches have gone away too. Will they be back? Only a few Juncos
are appearing in the yard but flocks of them are in the area. I notice them
when I'm driving. I wonder what they are finding to eat at the road edges.
