Found adult and juvenile RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS, a new species for the
property, in some snags on the high ridgeline between Golf Course Road and
Cedar Creek, accessed via a trail that had been overgrown and unwalkable for
quite some time. A few of the areas within the Golf Course Road tract look like
good breeding habitat for this bird.
It was pretty slow earlier in the morning, but it picked up and I was able to
see a good nine warbler species, including an immature male COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT, a species I hadn't seen since the spring. I'm still seeing
BLUE-WINGED WARBLERS around, and hearing flyover BOBOLINKS just about every
morning.
