I get both species in my yard regularly and the Red-headed is decidedly the
more aggressive of the two, driving off the Red-bellied. Today the Red-bellied
is visiting my sunflower seed feeder regularly and he picks out a seed and
takes it over to the trunk of a nearby tree where he perches with his back to
me. I'm not sure whether he eats the seed there or caches it in the bark as he
blocks the view. Just now he was doing this and the Red-headed flew in, drove
him off and then went and inspected the area where the Red-bellied had been
perched. I didn't see it eat anything or remove anything from the bark,
though.
