I ran into a group from the Farmville Bird Club including Evan Spears at
Kerr Dam this morning, and we birded around several areas together before
heading our seperate ways. Higlight of the morning was a total of 23
Red-necked Grebes visible from Palmer Point. There was a large, loose flock
of mostly Red-breasted Mergansers and Horned Grebes that many of the
Red-necked Grebes were associating with. Other than those, waterfowl
numbers were quite low compared to recent weeks. I dipped on scoters,
Long-tailed Ducks, and Red-throated Loons today. The Lesser Black-backed
Gull and Spotted Sandpiper continue at Tairace, and I picked up my first
Tree Swallows of the year with a flock of about 100 birds.
