Just spotted (9:30 am) three Red-necked Grebes in Lake Shawnee, Powhatan
County. They were in a loose group of two Buffleheads, five Ring-necks, 14
Ruddies and four Canada Geese. All are in the 2nd lake very visible from
the 2nd dam road (Kohler Drive). There's beach parking along side the road
and a small fishing pier you may access for a closer look. Parking along
side the road is permitted as well. Also, one FOS Tree Swallow sitting on
the powerline.
