Greetings all,
If Frank Marenghi's list of birds he observed at Chincoteague this past weekend
has you twitching, then make a reservation for the VSO's birding weekend in
Chincoteague September 10-12. The headquarters is the Refuge Inn. They are
holding a block of rooms for our group at a special rate until August 10.
Visit the VSO's web page to see more details about the weekend's activities,
hotel rates, and phone numbers:

One of the benefits of going with the VSO is Saturday's Specialty Tour -- a bus
trip to the Wash Flats at 1:00PM on Saturday. This is a restricted area in the
refuge and can only be entered with special permission. The VSO has requested
permission to disembark twice on the way back like we have done for past years
and are hopeful that they will grant it again this year. The shorebirds and
raptors are often abundant in this area. The bus has a capacity for 30 people
and the minimum number for the trip is 20. The cost per person is $12 for VSO
members and $17 for non-members. If you want to go on this trip, you must make
a reservation in advance. Visit the web site to learn who to contact to reserve
your spot.
Leaders Bill Akers and Jerry Via know this area well and will lead the weekend
trips.
Reserve your hotel and bus space early. For more info, check out the VSO's web
site or contact Field Trip Co-Coordinator, Meredith Bell, merandlee@xxxxxxx
