New arrivals at Riverbend Park (Fairfax County) this Tuesday morning
included a male ORCHARD ORIOLE in the picnic area near the visitors' center
and
a female YELLOW WARBLER along the river south of the center. Other warblers
seen included La. Waterthrush, several Parulas, and many Yellow-rumped.
Back home, I just counted 12 Pine Siskins feeding on thistle and 6 more
bathing in the bird pools.
The yellow in their wings and tails is becoming increasingly bright. Their
northward migration must certainly be imminent.
