Rain ended overnight but dense fog persisted for most of the morning.
First hour was from alternate site. Fog began to lift by 10am except for
NE until the SE breeze shifted to more SW.
Mostly overcast all day with lower level clouds and warmer flow of air
moving up from S to SW. Upper level clouds remained stationary.
Warm, humid air and darker threatening clouds moved in by 1pm EST. Rain
moved into the area by 3pm.
Raptor Observations:
Hopeful but pretty slow. No birds in last hour.
Two Bald Eagles, 1st year at 11:05 and 1-2nd year at 12:46.
Non-raptor Observations:
Lots of chimney swifts and tree swallows throughout the day.
Highlight was a group of at least 387 Common Nighthawk lifting out of the
trees, circling, slowly gaining altitude and drifting southward before
disappearing up into the foggy mist. Two stragglers several minutes for
total of 389.
