Weather:
Warm day with 17-23.2C temperature range. Moderate, consistent NW winds
early made for an active morning but then the winds died down to a calm,
mild breeze after 1pm. Clear blue skies all day. Thanks to everyone who
helped find birds in the blue!
Raptor Observations:
A nice flight of BWs in the morning with 58, 65, and 35 birds in the hours
between 9am-noon. Eight Bald Eagles: 1st-YR at 7:20am and adults at 9:10,
10:53 (2), 11:10, and 1:56 (3). First bird: 7:20 BE. Last bird: 4:57 Osprey
(thanks for spotting that Bill!).
Non-raptor Observations:
5 hot air balloons early in the morning out to the east. A yearling Black
Bear spotted across the gap near the teepees. 74 Monarchs. 2 Hummingbirds,
2 Red-headed Woodpecker. 27 Northern Flicker. 4 Raven. 10 Waxwing. 1
Rose-breasted Grosbeak. 671 Common Grackle.
