Weather:
Nice day with 17.1-28.7C temperatures. Good moderate NW winds early
switching to mild E breezes after 2pm. Partly cloudy with good visibility.
Raptor Observations:
First two raptors were immature Northern Harriers at 7:15 and 7:30am. Last
raptor was a Kestrel at 4:56pm. Beautiful, adult Peregrine Falcon flew SW
behind us low and steady (from the plateau to behind the Inn). Six Bald
Eagles: 4 adults (10:30, 11:34, two at 11:45) and two 2nd-YR (12:23, 2:35).
One big BW group of 627 birds streamed through high and fast from NE to SW
in the 11am hour. Hourly BW counts: 1 (8-9), 158 (9-10), 96 (10-11), 627
(11-12), 10 (12-1), 37 (1-2), 68 (2-3), 11 (3-4), 3 (4-5).
Non-raptor Observations:
3 hot air balloons to the east and 1 to the west early. 61 Monarchs. 89
Swifts. 1 Hummingbird. 9 Red-headed Woodpecker. 1 Sapsucker. 24 Flicker. 30
Blue Jay. 3 Tree Swallow. 3 Raven.
