This past Sunday Gordy Adamski and I headed over to Rockingham County in
search of the Ross's Goose. We drove all around, up and down and inbetween
back roads, side roads, byways and highways. But no Ross's Goose. Of
course it wasn't until later I learned they were hanging out on small lake
behind a private retirement community. And to think we drove by the place
several times.
Decided to have another go and this time found all three at White Birch
Estates Assisted Living Center. I telephoned ahead and received permission
to access the property.
It was a cold, overcast day. Ice is beginning to form on most of the
smaller ponds and watering holes and temps are predicted to stay below
average for several more days along with threat of a winter storm that
could produce measurable precipitation of the frozen kind over the next few
days.
Below are two updated links -- one for the Ross's Goose and one for the
juvenile Snow Goose, both in Rockingham County.
