Shortly before sunset this evening, I stopped by Huntley Meadows in Alexandria.
At the beginning of the boardwalk, coming from the Visitor Center, I paused to
listen to the beautiful song of hundreds of Red-winged Blackbirds perched in
the trees. Then a large number of these birds flew away while other birds
remained in the trees. Suddenly I heard a "creaking" sound coming from the
trees and saw that there were about 70 Rusty Blackbirds.
