With the brutal winds last night I decided to forego a venture afield this
morning, electing to watch birds from my living room window. As I overlook the
Occoquan River, window watching can be a bit fun with some diversity beyond the
feeder birds. About 7:15 I look up and very near is a Sandhill Crane! Not
quite what would be expected (?!) and fortunately the camera was nearby
enabling me to grab a few photos. The bird was flying west or generally
upriver and I have no idea where it was coming from, or going. What a fun yard
bird.
