Hello all
When I got in from work this afternoon I checked on my e -- mail & found two e
--mails from Yulee Larner who had just today gotten an e -- mail from a Jeanie
Reeves stating that she is hostess to three adult Sandhill Cranes . These
Sandhills have been around for at least 3 weeks now . So when I had finished
all of the things that needed to be done , Pat & I took a ride out there . Sure
enough we saw the 3 in a field . Directions from I 81-- get off at exit 225
onto Rt. 275 west to Rt 250 west . Take Rt 250 W to the end of town of
Churchville & take a right onto Rt. 42 North -- follow Rt.42 for about 12 . 6
miles to Rt. 809 & 747 ( Rt. 809 is Iron Works Rd. which turns into Rt 747
Mossy Creek Rd . ) At this intersection a left turn go straight for about 2 . 4
to 3. 0 miles These birds have been seen in the fields at mail box number 581 &
398 ( right side of the road ) . I saw them at box 398 this evening around 6 pm
. The name of the person at box 581 is Jeanie Reeves . The other box 398 is a
black mail box on the right side of the road in front of a large yellow vinyl
sided home with a white wrap around porch . There is a stone building right
across the road in front of this home & we have permission to park there
because the road is very busy & somewhat unsafe to park along the shoulders .
Just park & walk up just past this house & you will see the open field to the
right . If you are from the North go to Bridgewater & pick up Rt. 42 South into
Augusta County . Scan the fields & good luck .
