Tyler Moore and I walked near the dam at Sandy River Reservoir on 4/13 and
4/14 after Tyler had spotted and photographed a male LONG-TAILED DUCK on
4/12. We were unable to find the Long-tailed Duck, but we saw a female SURF
SCOTER on both days. The bird is near the dam and is often within 150 yards.
We also saw Northern Shoveler, Blue-winged Teal, Mallard, Wilson's Snipe,
Wild Turkey, four Osprey and a Bald Eagle. We had Barn and Tree swallows,
lots of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, and FOY White-eyed Vireo and Common
Yellowthroat.

Good Birding,

Michael Collins
