I went outside this evening for a 'few' minutes and it was like it was
raining really cool birds!!! A Scarlet Tanager was calling from the trees
and while I was looking for him, as a bonus, there was an Orchard Oriole!
All males too! Then I found where the Brown headed Nuthatches were nesting.
When I headed back to the house, there was a Blue Grosbeak on the feeder and
two male RT Hummingbirds fighting. As I was going in the house, the Canada
Geese did a fly by and the Chuck Wills Widow was calling. What a wonderful
end to a beautiful day! It was so exciting, I half expected to look up and
see a Bald Eagle or maybe even a Red whiskered Bulbul fly over!
Also this week, there was a White eyed Vireo singing down by the pond and at
work, the Green Heron and the Catbirds were back. AND, the baby Mallards
hatched (she had laid her eggs in the middle of the traffic circle at
school) and she got them to the pond 15 minutes before the parents starting
dropping kids off.great end to what could have been a sad story.
