Thanks to William Hohenstein, Mike Pollack and I found the selaphorus
hummingbird at Green Spring Gardens in Annandale this morning feeding on purple
salvia bushes. I have had so little experience with Western hummingbirds, I
have no idea which this may be and would welcome input on the ID. Turn right
when arriving at the parking lot and drive to about the 15th parking space.
There are steps leading up the the gardens near two curved benches where the
bird was seen, but it was also briefly on the other side of the parking lot in
a willow oak.
