Hello all
This afternoon Brenda Tekin & I went to the home of M. A. Vessey to view
their visitor a female or Imm. male Rufous/ Allen's Hummer . The bird came
to the window feeder several times while we were there for about an hour ( 3
to 4 pm ) .
The feeders are in the back of the house which is an old 1810 log house with
a green roof . Mrs. Vessey is a painter & she has an open house this
weekend . What a way to view the home , paintings & see the Hummer also .
She welcomes all . Parking is limited along the side of the road ( this is a
rural area & car traffic is low ) & the back yard where the bird is being
seen is also limited . Please stay on the grass or the walk ways that wind
thru the mulched flower beds . The Hummer comes to a Crape Myrtle up
beside the house before coming to the feeders . While waiting for the Hummer
you can enjoy all the other birds she has coming to the feeders . UP in
your face looks at Chickadees, Titmouse , Purple Finch , W B Nuthatch ,
Brown Creeper , W T Sparrow & list goes on . Good time to view the bird is
in the afternoon because the sun is to your back but she welcomes all any
time during the day . Good Luck .
