I received a photo of a Selaphorus hummingbird that was seen at a feeder
in Amherst County on August 29 and 30. It appears to be an adult male
Rufous. This is only the third summer record for the Central Virginia
region (a Rufous Hummingbird in Appomattox County on 23 July 2004 and one
in Campbell County on 6 August 2004). I have forwarded the photo on to
Bob Seargent of the HBSG who may be able to identify it as to species.
