Greetings from rainy Herndon,
While eating breakfast this morning, a SHARP SHINNED HAWK buzzed the
yard, putting all the other birds to flight.
It finally settled in our Red Bud tree and stayed there for at least
an hour. Two very brave Chickadees hopped around in the adjoining
Rose of Sharon.
Finally, I just happened to notice a blur of movement of a bird, one
that must have decided it was safe to return, and just like that, the
Sharpie exploded off the branch. Both birds went out of view, so I
don't know if the Sharpie caught the other bird. Had the Sharpie
stayed still for another second or two, I'm sure the other bird would
have been brunch.
Good birding to all,
Jay and Carol Hadlock
