From Tad Finnell of the Roanoke Valley Bird Club:

Today there were at least 12 species of shorebirds at the Sewage Treatment
Plant in Roanoke.  Among them were: Stilt Sandpiper, Short-billed Dowitcher,
Sanderling and Semi-palmated Plover.  All good birds for our area and all
identified without a scope.  Tad plans to go back tomorrow with a scope
because he thinks there were even more species than he identified.
