Hello, birders.
Pleasant fall day at Sky Meadows. I birded the North
Ridge and Piedmont Overlook Trails, the Visitor Center
area, a small piece of the Gap Run Trail (Boston Mill
Rd. section) and parts of Edmonds Lane and the park
entrance road.
3 RUFFED GROUSE were drumming along the upper part of
the North Ridge Trail. Nearby, 2 FOX SPARROWS were in
a mixed sparrow flock.
I heard at least one PURPLE FINCH flying over the
Office area, which is just NW of the Visitor Center.
RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS were in their usual spot.
I received a report that a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE has been
hanging around the fishing pond for several days. I
was told that it had captured a snake today!
