Yesterday we flew into Dulles airport and there was probably a Snowy Owl
sitting on a long building adjacent to one of the runways. We only had a quick
look but it sure looked like one. It was probably not visible from the main
terminal but I am not exactly sure of the location. We were returning from
southern Ontario where they are having a great Snowy Owl year. All reports say
even a better Snowy invasion than last year in s. Ontario and we certainly saw
a lot more this year in the same area. We had 4 in our sector alone on the
Wallaceburg CBC; Rondeau CBC recorded 25; one person independently found 11 in
one day south east of Wallaceburg; there were 8 in the Onion fields near Point
Pelee. We had several new ones each day with 3 in one field and many were very
white individuals. Anyway if anyone has a Dulles contact you might ask them to
keep an eye out. Happy New Year - Rob Simpson
