A Snowy Owl was seen at National Airport this afternoon at
about 4:35. I arrived at Gravelly Point a little after 4 and scanned the
areas where it had been seen, including the gravel/soil pile where it
perched yesterday. I eventually found the bird perched on the same pile
today. The owl might have been sitting on the ground before this. Because
of the cold weather and something I need to do tonight, I left at about
4:50. I did not wait to see if the owl would fly from the pile. If I had
had more time today, I would have gone back to the airport terminals.
Because of where this owl has been staying, going to the terminals might be
the only chance to get a decent look at it.
